Registrant's Question About Hermeneutics

Registrant's Question About Hermeneutics

Hello, readers of the Jovens Bíblicos blog. Recently I had an interaction with a subscriber to my YouTube channel. He asked me about what Hermeneutics is and I tried to help him understand. I hope it also helps you with your doubts about interpreting the Bible.

Gustavo: I didn't really understand what Hermeneutics is.

Lucas: Hermeneutics seeks to establish rules of interpretation. Example: the literary genre must be taken into account. In Exegesis I set out to apply these rules. I choose a text and observe whether it is poetry, a narrative, a parable of Christ, a prophecy, etc. And so I continue to develop the interpretation by applying other rules of Hermeneutics.

Gustavo: if I write a text narrating the introduction to Mark's gospel, my text is an Exegesis. Correct?

Gustavo: the application of the rule, that the book of Mark is a historical book, is Hermeneutics. Would this be it?

Lucas: Yes, if you are interpreting the verses in your text.

Lucas: the rule is Hermeneutics. The application is Exegesis.

May God give you enlightenment and wisdom to deepen your biblical studies. Studying the pure Holy Bible and Theology is very good. Start with the easiest topics and then move on to the more difficult topics.
