6 Preachers/Teologians That I Admire

Here is a list of 6 preachers/theologians whose work and commitment to God I admire. The Bible also lists heroes of faith in Hebrews 11:32 and 33. These are people who made a difference in biblical times. Here I include both preachers from biblical times and later ones.

''What more can I say? There is not enough time to talk about Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel and the prophets. By faith they fought against entire nations and won. They did what was right and received what God had promised them. They stopped the mouths of lions,'' Hebrews 11:32 and 33

1- Jesus Christ: as God, there is no need to say anything, but as a man (Jesus had both natures) he was a prophet and evangelist. He had a normal childhood like any other child and as an adult he worked as a carpenter and took care of his family. When he was about 30 years old he began to preach from town to town and to teach in the synagogues. He gathered crowds and performed several miracles. He confronted false religious people and the established system and also defended human dignity and a more humble and sincere faith. He probably did not marry because of his purpose on the cross. When he was about 33 years old he was handed over to the Romans to die for our sins, but he was resurrected on the third day. The greatest man in history was a teacher of God's law.

2- John the Baptist: one of the bravest men in history. He had the courage to preach against the sins of the powerful. He even preached against a serious sin of the governor. He was loved by the people and the governor liked to listen to him even though he denounced their sins. He was recognized as a prophet. Herodias (the governor's wife) took him to jail and death, but his legacy remains to this day. He was Jesus' cousin.

3- Paul: the theologian of grace. He succeeded Christ along with the other apostles, but developed a special work with the Gentiles (people who were not Jews). He wrote practically half of the New Testament. He was the greatest promoter of Christianity in history.

4- John: he became known as the apostle of love. He preached and taught about God's love. As incredible as it may seem, he was the one who asked Jesus to send fire from heaven to consume a city. When he was older, he changed his perspective. He was also a prophet and received the revelation of Revelation. He died a natural death.

5- John Wesley: he was saved from a fire as a child and as an adult studied theology at the renowned Oxford (where he would also later become a professor). He was called a social reformer. He donated almost half of his salary to charity and created the Methodist movement. This movement would later become the Methodist Church, one of the largest churches today. He ran around the block and was therefore healthy enough to preach every morning until the day he passed away.

6- Billy Graham: Who would have thought that a simple farmer from Kansas would be considered the greatest evangelist of the 20th century? Graham gave conferences in stadiums all over the world and wrote several books. He even pastored a church for a time and won 2.5 million souls for Christ. He had degrees in Theology and Anthropology.

There are others who have done excellent work and are worthy of admiration, but for now I will focus on these so that the article does not become too long. May the testimonies of these people renew your faith.
